About NewToIreland.ie

Helping people settle into life in Ireland

We cut through the confusion of Irish bureaucracy and give you clear, honest, step-by-step guides — for free.

Why we built this

Moving to a new country is exciting — but it comes with a mountain of admin. PPS numbers, Garda registration, PRTB deposits, GP waiting lists, tax credits. Finding clear answers can feel like a full-time job.

NewToIreland.ie exists to make that easier. We bring together the information scattered across government websites, community forums, and official guidance into one place — written in plain English, not bureaucratic language.

Who it's for

Our guides are written for anyone relocating to Ireland:

  • EU/EEA citizens exercising the right to free movement
  • Non-EU nationals arriving on work permits, Critical Skills Employment Permits, or other visas
  • International students starting college or university
  • Returning Irish emigrants who've been away for years and need to get back on their feet
  • Partners and families joining someone already living here

What we cover

We publish guides across nine core topics: banking & tax, immigration & visas, housing, healthcare, employment, transport & driving, education, family & children, and social welfare. Every guide is researched against official Irish government sources and reviewed regularly to keep it accurate.

How we keep it accurate

Irish rules and processes change — sometimes quickly. We review every guide on a rolling basis and flag any content that needs updating. Our primary sources are:
